“Pursuing with the goal of creating an equitable society- free of hunger and poverty, AHP believes in the collective strength of local human-capital and concentrates its efforts primarily on generating locally appropriate employment opportunities, improving people’s access to social services, training and evidence based research, developing partnerships and advocating these issues at appropriate platforms for opinion building and demand policy changes.
AHP provided hand holding support to VAAGDHARA and conducted an organisational diagnosis exercise which strengthened the process of issue identification and was also useful in facilitating the process of Strategic Planning for 2013 -2020. It also took stock of the existing and future structural, human, technical and financial resources. The experience of VAAGDHARA with AHP was very different and rewarding.”
“Action on Hunger and Poverty Foundation (AHP) is a very well thought initiative with its elaborate strategy to promote and develop community leadership to ensure accountability of the state. Their choice of geographic spread and target community for start-up programmes is also commendable, where they intend to work with the communities at the lowest strata of the society in remote locations of the state. The founders of AHP are very experienced and knowledgeable in their domains with a vision to bring a long lasting change in the lives of the community.”
Action on Hunger and Poverty Foundation’s initiative of working with and supporting grass-root people’s organisations towards a hunger and poverty free society is commendable and very much the need of today. They have begun in right earnest by working in Rajasthan and interior of Madhya Pradesh in facilitating local leadership to address issues of poverty, hunger, malnutrition, governance and other important development issues. Its a right step in the right direction and I wish the Foundation success in their future endeavour.
That AHP is spearheaded by Ms.Saraswathi Gopala Rao itself affirms the commitment of the foundation to fight against poverty, hunger and stand for social justice. Ms.Saraswathi Rao is known for her committed involvement to the cause and it is with the same spirit that AHP Foundation was built. Our interaction with AHP Foundation for the past few months have proved one thing – AHP Foundation is certainly different from many other supporting organisations. It is our privilege to be supported by AHP Foundation in our quest for women’s empowerment and grass-root development because here it is not just about support, it is about capacity building of our organisation.
