Status of Children in Satna District
Despite most of the children enrolled at school, any working days children can be found wandering in fields and village streets. Their parents usually go out of village for work and there is no one in the village to take care of their schooling. Many of the children are engaged in road construction and other works on a low daily wage. The core team with its observations has identified following problems in regular schooling of children at locality –
• Teachers are irregular and not punctual;
• School Monitoring Committee is not empowered and proactive to its role;
• Parents are engaged at work and individual care to children is difficult,
The core team agreed to improve local coordination for school function. It was agreed in the meeting that a monitoring committee shall be formed in each village to assess educational status of schools and encourage villagers to regularize parents’ meeting.
